It was a busy holiday weekend, police responded to several serious crashes, Patchogue’s biggest housing project broke ground, and local businesses finally got a boost from sunny skies. Enjoy your Labor Day.

🚔 Six people were arrested during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Patchogue, part of a holiday weekend crackdown on impaired driving. Charges included DWI, weapon possession, and drug possession. [TBR News Media]
🚓 A Patchogue man was arrested for DWI after crashing into a police car late Saturday night, injuring two officers at Rider Avenue and Terry Street. The officers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. [News 12]
🚨 A Shirley man was charged with DWI after a head-on crash in North Bellport seriously injured his passenger late Thursday night. Police say he crossed into oncoming traffic on Montauk Highway, injuring two others as well. [Daily Voice]
🚓 Three Suffolk County officers were injured when an unmarked police car crashed into a tree during a chase in Farmingville. The pursuit began as police attempted to execute a search warrant; the suspect was eventually apprehended. [News 12 Long Island]
🏗️ Demolition has begun to make way for the $160 million Carriage House apartment complex on West Main Street in Patchogue. The project will bring over 260 new rental units including affordable and workforce housing. [Greater Long Island]
🚗 The NYS DMV announced that it will stop issuing Clean Pass stickers as the federal Clean Pass Pilot Program expires on September 30, 2025. After that date, qualifying vehicles must meet standard HOV occupancy rules to use the LIE’s carpool lane. [NYS DMV]
