Local Pulse

🎨 Arts on Terry (AOT) is an annual, free contemporary art festival held in Patchogue’s arts district, featuring over 300 artists with live painting, solo booths, and performances. The event includes family-friendly activities, live music, and showcases contributions from local museums and organizations. Patchogue Arts Council.

🌍🎨 Tales of Contact, Cultures, and Community is a collaborative exhibition between Patchogue Arts Council and Ma’s House, running from September 14 to November 16, 2024. Featuring works from artists such as Molly Crabapple and Edel Rodriguez, this showcase aims to celebrate cultural histories and strengthen community bonds. Patchogue Arts Council.

🦟 Suffolk County has reported a new case of West Nile virus, bringing the total to eight cases this year. The latest patient, a resident of Brookhaven over the age of 50, was hospitalized and is now recovering at home. Residents are urged to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites. more details here.

⚾ Medford native Marcus Stroman has been named the New York Yankees' nominee for the 2024 Roberto Clemente Award, which honors players for their philanthropic efforts and community contributions. Stroman's commitment to giving back has made him a standout both on and off the field. MLB Press Release.

🎡 The Brookhaven Country Fair is set to return on September 21-22, 2024, in Ridge, offering fun activities, live entertainment, and family-friendly events. The fair celebrates Long Island’s history and traditions with craft vendors, food, and historical demonstrations. Greater Long Island.

Community Highlights

  • The Patchogue community gathered for "A Night For Luca" at Blue Point Brewery to support 16-month-old Luca Cerullo, who was diagnosed with two rare neurological diseases. His parents, Allison and Anthony, expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of help as doctors have warned Luca may not reach his second birthday. Donations are being collected through a Fund the First campaign.

  • The Woman's Club of Patchogue is a charitable organization dedicated to community service, promoting education, and fostering civic involvement. Since 1910, the club has supported numerous causes, including scholarships for local students, programs for veterans, and initiatives to improve the Patchogue community.
