🚧 State Senator Dean Murray met with MTA and LIRR officials at the Bellport train station to address ongoing concerns about maintenance and the visual impact of the adjacent maintenance yard, which is visible from Montauk Highway and the station lot. While acknowledging the yard's utility, Murray emphasized the need for improvements to protect the community’s view and says he looks forward to action from transit officials. 🚔 A man was surrounded by what appeared to be ICE agents outside Caribe Mini Market on East Main Street in Patchogue Thursday morning. Cellphone video shared with News 12 shows multiple agents on the sidewalk with the man and the footage has since circulated online. [News 12 Long Island]
🚔 Eight people were arrested at a sobriety checkpoint in Patchogue overnight as Suffolk County police increased DWI enforcement ahead of the holiday weekend. The checkpoint was part of a broader effort to reduce impaired driving, with officers stationed in high-traffic areas as celebrations ramp up. [Daily Voice]
🏫 Village Hall in Bellport will be closed from Tuesday, December 24 through Thursday, December 26 for the holiday. Recycling will still be collected on Wednesday, so residents are asked to place cans out after 6 PM on Tuesday or early Wednesday morning. There will be no sanitation pickup on Thursday or Friday.
