🚨 Nearly two decades after a gang-related drive-by shooting took the life of 15-year-old in Bellport, A Bloods member has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. 🚔 A Selden man and former special education aide has been arrested again for allegedly trying to photograph a 17-year-old girl under her clothing at a ShopRite in September. 🏥 NYU Langone Hospital–Suffolk in Patchogue has officially been designated a Level II Trauma Center, a major milestone celebrated on National Injury Prevention Day. Bellport Village November Meeting
The Village of Bellport will convene for its general meeting at Village Hall on November 24, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., offering both in-person and Zoom access to the public. Kicking off the session, Mayor Maureen Veitch will introduce Jenn Ditta of Cullen & Danowski to present the audited financial statements for the fiscal year ending May 31, 2025. The Board will then vote to formally accept the audit.
A public hearing will follow regarding the repeal of Chapter 25, Local Law #5 of 2025, which currently governs rental licenses in the village. Residents will have the opportunity to voice opinions before the Board casts a vote on the matter.
Capital updates and reports from trustees will touch on projects such as the Howells Creek HUD grant, improvements to the community center, and ongoing maintenance needs. New proposals under discussion include work times for landscapers, revised marina dock fees, and an annual sticker requirement for boaters using Ho Hum Beach.
The meeting will also see approvals for community favorites like the December 13 Holiday Stroll and the November 29 Soup Contest. Additionally, the South Bay Art Association is slated to host several events in 2026, including their 68th Annual Artists show.
Residents are encouraged to attend or tune in to stay informed and engaged in the shaping of local policies and community life.

🏈 Bayport-Blue Point pulled off a thrilling comeback to win its fourth straight Suffolk Division IV title, rallying from a 14-0 deficit to defeat previously unbeaten Babylon 23-14.
