“Eccentric Abstraction": Continuing a Legacy of Unique Artistry at MoCA LI

The Museum of Contemporary Art Long Island (MoCA LI) and the Patchogue Arts Council are thrilled to showcase "Eccentric Abstraction" from April 6 through June 12, 2024. This exhibition revisits the expressive and idiosyncratic style that began in the late 1960s, offering a modern continuation of the movement's tradition.

The exhibition takes place at the Museum of Contemporary Art Long Island located at 20 Terry Street, Patchogue. This artistic movement, which began in the 1960s, combined the emotive minimalism of the era with a distinct, expressive twist, earning the name 'Eccentric Abstraction'. Today's artists in the exhibition carry forward this innovative spirit, presenting works that challenge and expand on the traditional boundaries of abstract art.

This event not only highlights the creativity of contemporary artists but also celebrates the historical significance of their methods. Visitors to the exhibition can expect a vivid exploration of abstract art, where past innovations meet present creativity. A special acknowledgment is extended to Toast Coffeehouse for their support as the coffee sponsor.

Honor a Local Hero: Patchogue Lioness Lions Club Hosts Blood Drive in Memory of Paul Felice

The Patchogue Lioness Lions Club invites the community to a special blood drive in honor of Paul Felice, a revered ex-chief of the Patchogue Fire Department and Ambulance Company. The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, from 1 PM to 7 PM at the Patchogue Ambulance Company.

On May 16, the Patchogue Lioness Lions Club will be holding a blood drive from 1 PM to 7 PM at the Patchogue Ambulance Co., located at 336 West Main St., Patchogue. This event honors the memory of Paul Felice, who served with distinction as the ex-chief of both the Patchogue Fire Department and the Ambulance Co. His legacy of service continues to inspire and impact the community.

Blood drives are critical for maintaining the necessary supply in local hospitals and emergency services, and this event provides an opportunity to give back in a meaningful way while remembering a local hero. The drive is open to the public, and all eligible donors are encouraged to participate to help save lives in their community.
