Deadline for Submissions

The Patchogue Arts Council (PAC) announced its Annual Juried Members Exhibition, Patchworks 2024, showcasing the diverse talents of its members. From June 29 to August 25, 2024, MoCA L.I. at 20 Terry St. Suite 116, Patchogue, NY, will host a vibrant display of paintings, sculptures, photography, and more. This year marks the thirteenth iteration of this celebrated event, providing a platform for artists to present their work to the community.

The exhibition, guest-curated by Lisa Petker Mintz, will commence with an opening reception on June 29, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. PAC members are invited to submit up to two pieces in any medium for consideration, with no submission fee required. This initiative underscores PAC’s commitment to fostering artistic expression and community engagement.

Artists who are not yet members can join PAC at the time of submission. Membership is open to all, regardless of location, with current members hailing from as far as Germany. This inclusive approach ensures a rich tapestry of artistic perspectives.

Heartwarming Film "EZRA" Premieres in Patchogue

The film "EZRA" is set to premiere at the Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center in Patchogue from May 31 to June 6. This poignant comedy-drama, directed by Tony Goldwyn, stars Bobby Cannavale as Max Bernal, a stand-up comedian who lives with his father, played by Robert De Niro. The film introduces William Fitzgerald as Ezra, Max’s autistic son, and features Rose Byrne as Max’s ex-wife.

"EZRA" delves into the complexities of co-parenting an autistic child, as Max and his son embark on a transformative cross-country road trip. The journey forces them to face difficult decisions about Ezra’s future, leading to profound moments of growth and understanding. Tinker Lab Event for Kids

Get ready for an evening of creativity and innovation at the Patchogue-Medford Library's Tinker Lab event on Tuesday, June 11, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Located at 54-60 East Main Street, Patchogue, NY, the library will host an exciting session designed for children in grades K-6.

The Tinker Lab offers a fantastic opportunity for young minds to dive into the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Participants will be challenged to apply concepts in various hands-on activities. They will test their designs and compete with their peers. This engaging environment encourages imagination, problem-solving, and collaboration, making learning both fun and impactful.

Long Island Class C Boys Lacrosse Champs

The Bayport-Bluepoint boys lacrosse team secured the Long Island Class C Championship with a thrilling 9-7 victory over Wantagh. They now advance to the regional quarterfinals against Red Hook on June 1.

The game, marked by intense back-and-forth action, saw Bayport-Bluepoint initially take a commanding 5-0 lead. However, by halftime, their lead had narrowed to 5-4.

The tension continued to build as Wantagh tied the score at 5-5. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Bayport-Bluepoint surged ahead again, establishing an 8-5 lead before ultimately securing a 9-7 victory.

Key contributions came from several standout players. Traigh Tomassone led the charge with three goals, while Ryan Hannaford added two more. Connor Curran, Danny Aiello, and Maclin Keyser each chipped in with a goal apiece, showcasing the team's depth and skill.

With this victory, Bayport-Bluepoint advances to the regional quarterfinals, where they will face Red Hook on June 1 at 5:30 PM at Middletown High School. The team is riding high on their championship win and looks forward to continuing their success in the regional playoffs.
