Performance Art Festival," presented by the Patchogue Arts Council (PAC) and MoCA L.I., is Long Islandā€™s first festival dedicated solely to performance art. This groundbreaking event will span three days, starting with a global-local music evening at 89 North on September 7, followed by a performance art film screening at Plaza MAC Cinema on September 8, and culminating in a day of dynamic live performances throughout the village on September 9.

NYU Langone Health and Long Island Community Hospital Move Toward Merger

A significant development in the healthcare sector of Long Island is unfolding as NYU Langone Health, based in New York City, and Patchogueā€™s Long Island Community Hospital (LICH) move closer to a full merger. This partnership, anticipated to be completed by next year, is set to transform local medical services, providing enhanced resources and expanded capabilities.

The journey towards this integration began in 2021 when both institutions received state and federal approvals to affiliate, with NYU Langone stepping in as the active parent of the 306-bed medical center. According to a spokesperson from NYU Langone, although LICH remains a separate entity for now, its affiliation allows it to leverage NYU Langoneā€™s resources.

The recent filing for completing the merger will not only consolidate their operations but is also expected to rebrand Long Island Community Hospital, integrating it further into the NYU Langone hospital system. This move aims to bolster the hospitalā€™s ability to provide high-quality healthcare by tapping into the broader network of NYU Langone, known for its excellence in medical services and facilities.

Burgerology Bids Farewell to Patchogue Location

In a surprising turn of events for local food enthusiasts, Burgerology has decided to close its doors at the Patchogue location, a spot it has occupied since taking over the former Sneaky Peteā€™s behind Stereo Garden in 2020. The announcement was made through an Instagram post on Monday afternoon, expressing gratitude to patrons for their support and loyalty over the years.

The Patchogue venue, recognized for its unique craft burgers and extravagant milkshakes, has been a vibrant part of the community, notably hosting a popular beer festival that drew hundreds of visitors. However, according to Burgerology owner Eddie Galatoulas in a discussion with Greater Long Island, the locationā€™s atmosphere, influenced by the nearby nightlife, did not align with the brandā€™s laid-back vision. ā€œWe want people to be kicking back and relaxing without the intensity of the nightclub experience,ā€ Galatoulas explained.

The community will surely miss the unique dining experience that Burgerology offered in Patchogue, but fans can continue to enjoy their favorite meals at the restaurant's other venues.
