Patchogue Prepares for “No Kings” Protest on June 14
Patchogue will join communities across the country this Saturday, June 14, as part of the organized “No Kings” protest movement. Locally, the demonstration is scheduled from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM outside Congressman Andrew Garbarino’s office at 31 Oak Street. The event is part of a larger nationwide effort advocating for democratic values and challenging perceived government overreach.
In response, the Village of Patchogue has issued a public notice affirming its awareness and proactive coordination with Suffolk County Police to ensure a safe and peaceful environment. Organizers have been advised to direct participants to park south of Terry Street, utilizing public lots on Academy and Baker Streets and at the Long Island Rail Road station. Downtown parking will be preserved as much as possible for local shoppers.
Residents and business owners, especially those coordinating Father’s Day order pickups, are encouraged to plan ahead to avoid traffic or access issues during the event window. The Village reiterated that such public assemblies are constitutionally protected and exempt from the Village’s special events statute.
Community members with concerns or questions are urged to stay informed through official Village communications.
Patchogue Planning Board Reviews $35M Hotel Proposal with Rooftop Restaurant
The Patchogue Planning Board and Architectural Advisory Committee convened a special joint meeting on June 10 to review the proposed development of a luxury hotel at 138 West Avenue. Presented by West Avenue Partners LLC, the $35–40 million project includes a 96-room hotel, 12 residential apartments, a rooftop restaurant and spa, and multiple ground-level retail spaces and event venues.
The site, already zoned for hotel use, will feature a pedestrian-friendly layout with street-facing retail and concealed rear parking. The developer has committed to 119 on-site parking spots—18 more than required—including ADA-accessible and landbanked spaces. The location, just 600 feet from the LIRR station, is expected to attract train-traveling visitors, potentially easing local traffic.
However, residents expressed concern over traffic at the adjacent railroad crossing, where delays can stretch over 10 minutes. In response, the developer agreed to fund significant improvements, including a dedicated left-turn lane and updated traffic signals. Flood prevention was also addressed with the building elevated two feet above FEMA’s requirements and enhanced drainage systems with 255 leaching galleys.
The developer emphasized a community-oriented approach, proposing green space upgrades and long-term benefits to both visitors and locals. While the board welcomed the design, it called for further studies to fully assess traffic impacts and ensure public safety.
