📆 List of Events This Week in the Greater Patchogue Area!

Welcome

From Facebook to an Official Newsletter…

We’re thrilled to bring Patchogue Live Local to you as an official email Newsletter!

We live locally and have humble beginnings as we got started with Patchogue Local News & Events on Facebook. Despite having a ton of people following and liking our page, we came to realize that our reach isn’t always that great.

What we mean is that we don’t always get the opportunity to reach everyone with our Facebook Posts (for who knows what reasons) so we decided to rethink things a bit and concluded it was time to launch our own newsletter that served our local area.

Here’s the deal…

We’re sure you appreciate accessibility and brevity. We’re going to try to do both right here in a Newsletter that hits your inbox (5 Times a week) with what’s important to you.

Speaking of which, we would love your input on what that is (what’s important to you?)

Let us know what it is you want (Business, Crime, Deals, Events, Local News, Sports, Weather?)

Local News

Construction of The Grove Apartments Underway

East Patchogue is now home to a new development project as construction of The Grove Apartments has officially begun. Situated at the intersection of East Main Street and Grove Avenue, the project is being developed by Georgica Green Ventures, LLC, with an economic impact analysis conducted by Nelson, Pope & Voorhis, LLC. The development is set to introduce 55 affordable housing units to the area, including 17 units specifically allocated for victims/survivors of domestic violence, through a partnership with the Long Island-based nonprofit organization, New Ground.

The initiative aims to address the need for affordable and workforce housing in Suffolk County, in alignment with the Town of Brookhaven’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan, which advocates for a diversity of housing options to meet community needs.

The construction phase of The Grove Apartments is projected to have a significant economic impact on East Patchogue and its surrounding areas. It is estimated to generate a total output of approximately $27,112,250, creating around 139 full-time equivalent jobs and contributing over $12 million in labor income to the local economy. This phase is expected to support local businesses and suppliers by stimulating economic activity.

Suffolk County Sheriff Boosts Fight Against Distracted Driving

This April, Suffolk County Sheriff's Office escalates its efforts against distracted driving, collaborating with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on the "Put the Phone Away or Pay" campaign. The initiative, part of Distracted Driving Awareness Month, will see intensified enforcement of texting and driving laws. Highlighting the peril of distracted driving, with thousands of related deaths annually, Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. underscores the campaign's critical message: Texting while driving not only leads to fines but endangers lives.
