Patchogue Village Board Meeting Summary

The Village Board of Patchogue held a meeting on July 22, 2024. The meeting began with the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting and a detailed financial report highlighting significant expenses, including health insurance and general insurance costs.

Two public hearings were held to address amendments to the village code concerning the removal of illegally parked vehicles and the regulation of parking in temporarily designated areas during special events. These changes aim to enhance public safety and ensure clear enforcement protocols.

The Department of Public Works provided updates on ongoing projects and personnel changes, while the Planning and Zoning board announced upcoming meetings and new residential applications. The Chamber of Commerce shared a successful recap of recent events and plans for future community activities, such as the Live After 5 event, Family Olympics, and the Italian Festival.

A notable discussion point was a proposal to amend the 1968 code that prohibits tattooing in the village. The proposal, supported by a local business owner and community members, emphasized the modern acceptance of tattoos as an art form and the rigorous safety standards followed by licensed tattoo artists.

The video of the meeting can be seen here.
