Patchogue’s Outside the Box -Public Art Call for Proposals

The Patchogue Arts Council, in collaboration with the Village of Patchogue, is thrilled to announce an open call for artist proposals for a creative public art project. Artists are invited to submit original designs that celebrate the rich history of Patchogue. These artworks will transform ordinary utility boxes along Main Street into vibrant pieces of community art, turning them into canvases that narrate the town’s past and present.

This unique opportunity calls for designs that can be applied as art wraps around five existing utility boxes. The council is looking for artworks that reflect, incorporate, or interpret historical and contemporary scenes of Patchogue, whether through traditional or digital mediums. Selected artists will convert their designs into specified digital formats, with a professional third-party vendor handling the final installation.

Artists 18 years and older can submit up to three design proposals but are eligible to win only once, with a stipend of $600 awarded for each selected design. Submissions are accepted only through a digital form and must be submitted by May 15, with artists notified by May 20. Installation will begin in late May or June, and artists will receive their stipend four weeks after completion.

For inspiration, artists are encouraged to utilize local resources such as the Patchogue-Medford Library or the Greater Patchogue Historical Society Museum. Proposals should respect the guidelines set forth, avoiding political statements, religious symbols, copyrighted materials, and offensive imagery.

For those interested in making a mark on Patchogue’s streetscape, this is a chance to contribute to the community's artistic legacy. Please visit https://patchoguearts.org/patchogues-outside-the-box/ for further details and submission requirements. Please no calls.
