Shaping North Bellportās Future
North Bellportās second public workshop for the NY Forward (NYF) program will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Boys and Girls Club of the Bellport Area, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. This workshop follows the first meeting held in June, where community members came together in a structured and interactive format to share their ideas and vision for North Bellportās future.
The first workshop began with an overview of the NY Forward program, presented by the Local Planning Committee (LPC) co-chairs and a team of consultants. The presentation outlined key challenges and opportunities facing the community, including the need for affordable housing, improved public transportation, and local economic growth. After the introduction, participants broke into roundtable discussions, where they worked in smaller groups to brainstorm ideas on a series of focused questions. Topics included prioritizing community needs, identifying desired amenities, and discussing the long-term vision for North Bellport.
Each group then presented their findings to the larger audience, sharing ideas such as establishing a business incubator, improving traffic safety on Montauk Highway, and creating more community spaces for families and youth. Participants also voiced strong support for beautification projects and new affordable housing developments.
Workshop #2 will continue to give attendees another chance to participate in interactive discussions and help prioritize projects that could be funded through the NY Forward initiative. The feedback from this session will be critical in shaping the final recommendations for North Bellportās revitalization.
All community members are encouraged to attend and share their input. For more information and ongoing updates, visit the project website: bit.ly/NorthBellportNYF.
