Patchogue Village Board Meeting Recap
The Patchogue Village Board gathered on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, to review finances, hear project updates, and set the stage for upcoming community initiatives.
One of the most notable items was the decision to schedule a public hearing for Nov. 24, 2025, on a proposed amendment to Village Code §415-16.1. If approved, the change would prohibit the parking of trailers, boats, and campers on village streets. The hearing was originally considered for Nov. 10 but was pushed back to the 24th to allow more time. Trustee Kevin recused himself from both the discussion and vote to avoid any conflict of interest.
A highlight of the meeting was a detailed presentation from Johnson Controls, which delivered its Year Two Energy Performance Report. Under the 25-year contract signed in 2023, the company guaranteed $227,000 in energy savings for the past fiscal year. The actual savings reached $275,000, giving the village nearly $50,000 more than promised. In addition, Patchogue reduced its carbon footprint by an estimated 917 metric tons of COâ‚‚, equivalent to taking 214 cars off the road for a year.
Energy improvements have already paid dividends. Solar panels atop Village Hall generated roughly $42,000 in savings, while the carport system at the Patchogue Theatre added another $33,000. The board heard that the new train station solar carport, now nearing completion, is expected to power more than half of the wastewater treatment plant’s electric demand once it comes online.
The meeting also featured a report from the Business Improvement District (BID). The group announced that this year’s Farmers Market ended on a profitable note, with plans to expand in 2026. Seasonal plantings along village streets were another success, and winter decorations will begin to go up after Veterans Day.
The meeting closed with community notes celebrating a successful Fall Festival, the openings of Vertical Marketing on Terry Street and Sanctuary Plus Health on Main Street, and the continued buzz surrounding the MoCA L.I. GLOW Festival, which has turned downtown into an outdoor gallery of light and art.
